When Randy Goldberg and David Heath founded sock company Bombas in 2013, they wanted to create a pair that solved all your sock problems.

Goldberg and Heath spent two years engineering the perfect athletic sock, one that stayed warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and even protected feet from blisters.

Now Bombas has a line of men's dress socks it thinks might be the most comfortable ones you'll ever own.

"Dress socks have historically been known for their nice fabrics and bold designs, but we knew we could bring an innovative approach to the comfort and function of dress socks," Heath told Business Insider. "The goal was to create a versatile product that not only looks sleek but also has the technology and comfort to support our customers throughout the sport of their every day lives."

Made of a lightweight, fine-gauge staple cotton, Bombas' dress socks have almost all the features of the company's popular athletic socks but are nice enough to wear to work and other formal events.

The socks are lightly padded at your achilles and on the footbed for extra comfort, and the company's signature honeycomb stitching around the arch provides extra support and tightness where you need it most. Most dress socks either slip down your calf or are so tight they leave indentations on your shins, but thanks to Bombas' "Stay Up Technology" and "Sure-Fit Cuff," these socks will also stay put all day. You can learn even more about the tech packed into these dress socks here.

Bombas sent the guys of Insider Picks socks to review. You can read their thoughts about the pairs they tried below.

Bombas

Breton Fischetti, senior director of commerce:

I think most people (including myself) are mostly of the belief that socks are socks. However, Bombas has decided to do the socks thing, and do it really well.

They spent years designing a sock that's perfect for running, so I was interested to see their take on dress socks. The result is a pair of socks that combines the comfort of a regular cotton pair with the look and feel of a dressier one.

This means that they'll probably last a lot longer and keep their shape better while being comfortable. You can pull them up over your calf if you don't want them to slip down, or at mid calf without getting indentations in your shin, so the elastic is both strong but not too strong. I took them on a business trip, and they felt as good at the end of the day as they did at the beginning.

Brandt Ranj, associate commerce editor:

I was surprised at how good Bombas' dress socks felt. They go up higher than my regular pairs (to around half my calf) but felt comfortable when worn at a standard-sock length. My most important metric for socks is,"Do I notice I'm wearing them?"

If I do, that's a problem, since they should be "out of sight and out of mind." These socks passed that test with flying colors, and only after a day of wearing them did I think, "Oh, yeah, these actually do feel really nice." If your current socks are itchy, irritating, or otherwise uncomfortable, Bombas' may be one of the best wardrobe upgrades you can make.

Spencer Lambert, commerce intern:

These socks are easily the most comfortable pair I own at the moment.

My checklist for socks used to be "Are they clean?" —  followed by "Do they match?" — and it pretty much ended at that. Bombas' dress socks taught me that wearing the right pair can actually have a serious impact on how you feel throughout the day.

Aesthetics aside, their comfort alone makes them worth a try. It's never pleasant commuting in 90-degree weather, but if you start fighting the heat at your feet, it can be more manageable. The thickness of these socks will help them handle the wear and tear of frequent use, so I'm sure they'll remain my go-to pair for the remainder of the summer.

While I used to be content with cheap socks, now that I know how much they can change my day, I won't anymore.

Bombas' dress socks are available in a number of colors and styles.

For every pair purchased, one pair will be donated to someone in need. You can check out all of Bombas' dress socks here.
